What's in my Mailbox #1

Wouldn't you say it's time for a little haul?

I haven't been shopping in ages, but I got a few things for review lately which I wanted to show you. I feel obligated to say this post isn't meant for bragging, but if you're like me and hauls are your favourites, you'll know why I decided to hit publish! Also, I wanted to ask which items you're most interested in so I know what to test first!

You'll see no bodycare in this post as I've explained previously I have a skin condition at the moment (it's getting worse and worse), but no reason I shouldn't try new nail polish and skincare, right? Let's see what we have here ...

I got a few things from Click2Chic.si which I'm so excited about! The thing I cannot wait to use (but am forced to because I need to take photos of it first) is this Nanshy Marvel Sponge. You have no idea how badly I want to try it and it's been so annoying looking at it without using it. This is a super cool makeup blending sponge that has a flat side on one end, which makes blending really easy. You can get it here for around 7,5€.

I also got two Models Own nail polishes, one is from the new collection with metallic finish - gold, perfect - the other is a HyperGels one in an apricot colour. Couldn't find more 'me' colours, don't ya think? Will report back on these, as I'm planning on wearing one today - I have a bloggers event to go to. The gold polish is called Gold, apricot one is Long Beach Peach (d'aww).

Let's talk skincare. I was contacted by Bocassy, a new brand to me, who sent me a serum and a day cream. The Light Day Cream is very light indeed, smells wonderful and seems nicely moisutrizing - can't say more, as I've only used it a few times. My favourite is the Serum, though. Again, lovely scent, light, moisturizing, sinks into the skin very fast ... I also love the unique pump! Bocassy is available in Müller and you can also look at their website here.

Finally, the lovely Tajda at Oblak asked me if I'd like to try some new products. I have to say Oblak is one of my favourite companies to work with, they are really amazing - I can't forget the little gifts they send me, like for the first day of spring, Valentine's day ... So sweet! I requested the REN Micro Polish Cleanser, which looks really cool, and I liked the other cleanser I tried (from the Rosa Centifolia range), which had tiny beads, so I'm hoping this is great as well. Get it here for 29€.

A new brand to Oblak - and to me as well - is Corine de Farme. I got two products from them, the Micellar Solution as well as the Refreshing Orange Blossom Mist. So excited about these two, because they're affordable at 7€ and 5€, are big bottles and have up to 99% ingredients of natural origin. I just got them (literally 20 minutes ago) in the mail, so I can't say more than that just yet.

These are a few of my new things, but I'm planning another post like this if you don't mind, as I'm going to a Melvita event today. Incredibly excited about that because I adore Melvita. And I think I also have an incoming package from La Roche Posay ... Stick around if you'd like to see what I get.
What was the last thing you got in your mailbox?

Pink Pretties

I have a confession to make.

This post was supposed to be up in time for Valentine's day, but I promptly forgot about it. So I hope you'll forgive me and enjoy it nonetheless. Here is a selection of pink things and mini reviews on each one of them, I hope it helps!

Let's start with fragrance - I've picked two in different olfactory groups. First we have Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh (full review here), which is a very pretty, soft and gentle fruity floral. It's very inoffensive and a scent many will like, which is why I think it's perfect for a gift (would be great for Valentine's, huh? *smacks self*) You can get it here from 50€ upwards.

Next we have Agent Provocateur Eau Provocateur, which is similar to the original fragrance by this brand, but much lighter. It's a white floral with citrus notes, quite fresh, perfect for spring as well. I would recommend to both fans of the original fragrance as well as those who don't like it - it's light enough to be different, but has similar notes to the original.

How about a little haircare? This Schwarzkopf got2b Volumania Styling Powder is a favourite among bloggers, and I quite like it for second day hair. It's similar to a dry shampoo, but gives my hair a lot of hold as well, working like a hairspray. Very interesting product, and it's quite affordable at around 6€.

Skincare is up next! We have the Vichy Idéalia Serum, which I just adore. First of all, I've wanted this for absolute ages because of the packaging alone - isn't it just so pretty?! And I also love the product. It's very light, smells nice, illuminates my skin and is a great product for any skin type because it's so inoffensive. It moisturizes nicely and I especially like it under my makeup so my skin stays hydrated throughout the day. Available for a little over 30€ here.

Finally I have two products which should have been reviewed here ages ago! They're both from Cocoa Brown, which is actually a self-tanning brand. I was initially hesitant when they approached me asking if I wanted to review some products, since I don't self-tan. But they sent me a moisturizer and a body scrub and oh my stars, these two are amazing. Tough Stuff is a strawberry scented scrub which smells divine and is quite rough, but since my skin really needs the exfoliation, it works wonders. The moisturizer, Chocolate Whip, smells amazing again, this one is chocolate scented, buttery but not too thick, sinks into the skin fast and is so pleasant to use. I love these two products! You can find more information on the Cocoa Brown website.

Last, but not least, a little personal update.

I'm pretty ill at the moment and had to go to the local dermatologist urgently today. Apparently I have a disease (name was promptly forgotten by yours truly) that is similar to chicken pox, but it doesn't spread to others. This means I'll be covered in a rash that looks like severe burns over my whole body for at least 8 weeks.

I really don't want to bum you out, but I'm not sure what kind of cosmetics I'll even be able to use. This couldn't have come at a worse time, and is also stress induced, so it's no wonder I got it this month, but it's just so upsetting. Just looking at myself in the mirror makes me feel awful, everything itches and I look like a tomato. Lovely.

I might do some other posts, but definitely won't be testing out new bodycare at this time. I hope you'll stick with me and here's hoping the rash goes away ASAP.
How have you been lately?

4 for dry hair in the winter

Let's talk about hair, baby!

My hair looks awful. I don't know why - it's probably a combination of the cold, the heating, the general dryness of it ... But it just looks bad. So I switched up a few things in my haircare routine and wanted to chat about a few products I've found helped me a lot.

Let's start with la creme de la creme, Reken Extreme Anti-Snap Leave-In Treatment. If you get one thing from this post, get this. It's seriously amazing. It's a liquid treatment you put in your damp hair and then let it dry (looks best when you blow dry). It's amazing, my hair doesn't get static-y, it looks smooth and shiny, and it really nourishes my dry ends. I got mine on FeelUnique during a sale, but regular price is 20€ - so worth it!

Next up, Cece of Sweden. This is a relatively unknown brand I discovered at work, and I love it. This product is a hair mask for dry & damaged hair. It really helps my ends look better and they retain much more moisture. They actually stay wet, because usually, when I come out of the shower, they're dry immediately. I quite like it, and I would recommend using it once to twice per week because it is quite rich. Available on Click2Chic for 8€.

How about some love for Subrina Professional? This brand is awesome. I recently revamped my haircare routine with their products (full reviews coming soon), and I like two for dry hair especially.

First of, the Repair Mask. I love this packaging. I love it!! It comes in an enormous bottle of 500 ml and a pump - cue angels singing allelujah. It's great because it doesn't slip, and it smells so nice as well. I love the effect on my hair. This isn't as rich as the Cece mask, so you can use it more regularly. I like to add a dollop to my conditioner each time I wash my hair and it does wonders. Available on Click2Chic for 11€.

And finally, the special Nutri Milk Spray. I didn't like this at first, but now I've found its purpose! I often air dry my hair, which used to work okay, but now it makes it really frizzy. So I spray this on the bottom half of my air dried hair and it gives it some much needed moisture and smoothness. It works very well, and again, smells so nice. Available on Click2Chic for 6€.

I've also added a new shampoo and conditioner, but I think I'll do a separate review on those. Hope this helped you - I hated my hair and these products are real miracle workers.

Chloe Love Story EDP

Let me tell you a love story ...

It starts and ends with this beautiful fragrance, which I'm utterly in love with. I've admired the original Chloe perfume for a while, and I also like Chloe Love, but this one is new to me (and new on the market as well).

Love Story EDP is a beautiful, soft, citrusy white floral. The most prominent note, which is also one of my all-time favourites is orange blossom, followed by musk and neroli. Sometimes, white florals can be quite overwhelming (think SJP Lovely or Narciso Rodriguez), but here they blend in a lovely soft way. This perfume is definitely not a sillage monster, it stays close to the skin and fades after a few hours. But it's an absolute treat spraying it again, because it means you get to enjoy this beautiful fragrance.

While I wish the juice was a little more potent, I adore this scent. It's very spring appropriate, but it can be worn any time of the year. Because it's so light and soft, though, it will work wonderfully in the hotter months. I also love the bottle, which is inspired by the locks lovers place on the Pont des Arts in Paris.

This fragrance is available in several size - 30, 50 and 75 ml, as well as a deodorant and a body lotion. Prices are from 29€ up in parfumeries, but I would also recommend checking it out on Salma.si.

So, to sum up, this will appear to those who find straight-up white florals too strong, and prefer a soft, fresh scent. I love it!

Yankee Candle Pure Essence Votive Happiness Set - Spring Scents 2015

Long time no Yankee!

Finally, I have some new scents to tell you about and these are all from the Pure Essence collection for Spring. I was sent four votive candles in a pretty box which unfortunately got a little smashed during transport, so I didn't include it in the photo, but you can see it here

Votive candles come without a glass and need to be placed in a candle holder. Personally, I prefer bigger jars or tea lights, but these are a great option if you want to try out some new scents! Let's see what we have. Votives burn for about 15 hours.

Pink Grapefruit

I'm not certain if this is a part of the Pure Essence Collection, but it was included in the set. It's quite citrus-y and has that signature slightly tart, slightly bitter tang that I always associate with grapefruit. It's a very fresh scent, quite refreshing as well. Big like for this one, and I think it would work well in late spring when it's starting to get warmer! Check it out.

Aloe Water

This one is just beautiful! So fresh, soothing, rich but soft ... I love it. This one is great for lighting in your bathroom, because it's so relaxing - I can already envision a bubble bath with it burning in the background. It smells a little like Clean Cotton with something fresh and ripe added to the mix. Buy here.

Cassis

I thought I wouldn't like this one, fearing that it would be artificial. However, it's a gorgeous rich fruity scent which still manages to be fresh and reminiscent of spring. It's my least favourite out of the four, but I still like it a lot. I think it would smell nice on a very light, a bit chilly spring day, because it would balance the richness of the candle nicely. Available here.

Shea Butter

My absoltue favourite! It smells like Clean Cotton and Vanilla Cupcake combined and I just love it. Rich, soft, creamy & indulgent ... Just the way I like it. I want to wear a perfume exactly like this, and it reminds me a bit of DKNY Pure (an amazing fragrance). Perfect for staying in and lounging in your bed. Get it here.

This collection is so beautiful ... There's not one scent I don't like, and I love most of them! Just gorgeous and really embodies spring perfectly. I can't wait for it to get warmer outside (mind you, my wallpaper was Let it Snow for 2 months ...)

5 organizing tips for beauty bloggers featuring Minted.com

I thought I'd do a little post on organizing. I'm absolutely awful when it comes to this, but I've been trying a few self-imposed tips and tricks to get better. I was also approached by minted.com to do a post about their website, and I seriously love, love, love everything they sell, so I included some suggestions for you to get from them! Here are my top tips ...

1. Write your ideas down & keep a notebook at hand - always.

I don't know how many times it has happened that I had a brilliant post idea, didn't write it down, and promptly forgot about it. The best thing to do is keep a small notebook on hand all the time, so you can jot down ideas. A day planner is an awesome idea, too! This idea was spurned by discovering minted.com, a beautiful website with the prettiest stationery ... I'll definitely be ordering some things, like this notebook, a gorgeous print for my room and this incredibly pretty cake stand.

2. Plan your photos and shoot them in bulk.

I used to take a photo per day for each post I wrote. I can't tell you how much easier it is to set a day for shooting and just take loads of photos. Make sure you have good lighting and dedicate the morning to taking photos, you can write the posts later! It's also great for me because I like to have fresh flowers in my photos and if I shoot on the same day, I really get my use of the bouquet. In case you're looking for some other props, check out this pretty ribbon, a gorgeous fabric to use as a backdrop or maybe some pretty wrapping paper.

3. Schedule your posts.

I can't stress this enough - scheduling is your best friend. I know it's great to write a post out of the blue & when you feel inspired (like I am right now), but if you have a schedule of posting, setting them up in advance will help immensely. I like to write them when I have time and then I always have something to back up on. To keep track of your posts, I suggest a daily planner like this beauty.

4. Make use of your inbox.

This could be a post of its own, but for now let's keep it short. First of all, you need an e-mail adress for your blog. It's easy to set up, I use Gmail. Keep it simple and relevant and make sure you mention it on your website. Next, tabs & categories. They're there for a reason. I like to star all e-mails I need to reply to as well as things that need my attention, I sort everything and it helps loads. No more lost mail, no more forgotten replies. If you're old fashioned like yours truly, I also love the idea of business cards & stationery, like this beautiful foil pressed one.

5. Clean desk, clean mind.

Take your own advice, Živa! Tilen and I just got a brand new enormous desk which we are sharing and he's already threatened that I'm not allowed to litter. So I took that as an excuse to buy stationery, because it's obviously the right thing to do. How about this beautiful watercolour? J'adore!

EXTRA! 6. Don't stress & don't put too much strain on yourself.

Remember - you started blogging because it was fun. Sure, it has its perks, but at the end of the day it should make you happy. If you need a break, take it. If you want to post 4 posts in a day, why not? There are no rules, but if you strain yourself, you'll burn out. So keep it light & fun!

Hope you enjoyed these little tips! I always love posting about blogging, it really is a lot of fun.

Current Favourite Lip Products

Lipstick won't solve all problems, but it's a good start.

With that in mind, here are my current top products. I've been going for a different look and I really feel like my signature lip colour is changing. I used to wear neon lipsticks all the time, mostly bright pinks, but lately I like taupes with some vampy shades thrown in. Let's see what I've got for you!

For the vampy gal

I love Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, whatever formula they may be (there's regular, matte & lacquer). This one is the regular edition and is called Crush, it's a gorgeous grape colour that is glossy and minty - yum! It's not drying at all. Price is around 12€, if in Slovenia, get it on Click2Chic, otherwise Boots has it, too.

For the toned down brights lover

I recently got Rimmel Apocalips in Nova, which is a very pretty kinda-bright-kinda-neutral pink. It's glossy, but not sticky at all and stays for a long time. I love Apocalips in general, I have three already and will definitely get more. Awesome formula and a great price. On Boots here, on Salma here. Price is 6-10€.

For the nude fanatic

I have a gorgeous Zuii lipstick which I mentioned in my last post, and it truly is beautiful! A mix of pink and taupe, it's really pretty, creamy, glossy and just all-around gorgeous. It's in the shade Cashmere, which looks strange on the website, but as you can see from the swatch, it's just beautiful. Here for Slovenia, here for international. 24€.

For the Kylie Jenner fan

This is probably the closest I've gotten to a Kylie Jenner lip. It's the Rimmel Kate lipstick in 08 Rosetto. Beautiful taupe colour which makes my lips look full and plump with a liner. A bargain at around 6€ and I would really recommend this one - even if you don't like nudes! On Salma here, on Boots here.

For the girl who wants a unique shade

This offering from Catrice is too good to pass up! Lip Glow changes colour according to the temperature of your lips. On me, it's actually quite bright, but sheer and glossy at the same time. It's really pretty and moisturizing as well. Around 4€ in Müller.

Well, I hope you've found something you like! I definitely love all of 'em.

What lipstick is your favourite at the moment?

Mini Zuii Haul & First Impressions

Hello you!

Yes, you reading this! I want to personally apologize for being a very bad beauty blogger. I've been slacking lately and haven't put out many posts at all. Truth is, I'm quite busy with another project, which has nothing to do with blogging, and my job too, of course ... But those are all excuses and I really need to find more time to write. So I hope you will forgive me & here's to many amazing posts in the future!

That being said, today I wanted to do a quick first impressions post on Zuii. Zuii is an organic brand of makeup, which isn't tested on animals. I was sent two products from the company as a Christmas present and am finally reviewing them now (where has the time gone?!) Let's start with my favourite.

I got a Zuii Lipstick in Cashmere, and as soon as I opened the tube, I knew I would love it. If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know of my love for MAC Plumful and Lovelorn. This is like a mix of the two, but with a more matte texture, and I love it so much! Very pretty colour, nice staying power ... What more could you want? In Slovenia, you can find these in Nama and on this website, otherwise, head over to the Zuii website. Price is $30.

And now for the Foundation Primer. Initially, I was not too thrilled about this one, because I have a bunch of primers already ... But this one is different! You know how primers have that silicone-y feeling on your skin? This one doesn't at all. It's more like a moisturizer, and it manages to really reduce the redness in my skin, which is awesome. My skin has been insanely oily lately, and the matte effect of my foundation lasts a bit longer when I apply this primer, but mostly, I love it for fighting redness. $35 here.

Zuii seems like a really promising brand and from my first try, I am intrigued! I love their pretty packaging, too. I'd love to try the foundations, more lip products, and their makeup brushes. Definitely for those of you who want cruelty-free, organic products. For more information, head here.
