Best beauty products of 2014

This was meant to be a top 14 of 2014, but me being me, I forgot to include a product in the photo, so there you go. Now let's move on to the traditional post where I show you all my favourites of the past 12 months ...

  1. Redken Extreme Anti-Snap Leave-In Treatment - the savoiur of my hair, this is a lovely liquid you put into wet hair, then dry it and it prevents your hair from snapping and gives it loads of shine. It is on the expensive side, around 16€ (well, it's a lot for me!), but so worth it in my opinion. If you have long hair that is prone to breakage, you need it! Find it on Feel Unique.
  2. Tigi Bed Head Urban Antidotes Recovery Treatment Mask - another saviour. I've always had greasy hair, but since it has been color treated I've definitely noticed it drying out. This mask is like a much needed injection of hydration and it makes my hair super soft and manageable. I love it, and it really helps instantly. Price is around 20€ on Feel Unique.

  1. Lush Grease Lightning - my number 1 helper when it comes to dealing with blemishes. This works overnight or even in a couple of hours, doesn't sting but is instead quite cooling, does not dry out the skin, but reduces blemish size in hours. Smells lovely as well, and only costs around 10€ in Lush stores.
  2. Bomb Cosmetics bath bombs - a new discover that I could not leave out, I just adore Bomb Cosmetics and all of their products, but the bath bombs are true winners in my eyes. They're cheaper than Lush and better, in my opinion! Really strongly scented and an amazing experience in the bath. The one in the photo is It's X-mas, which has a lovely cinnamon smell. Available here for UK customers, and here for Slovenes, price is around 3€.

  1. Deborah 24 Hour Mascara - this is a mascara that is either loved or hated. Of course, I'm in the former group as I just love it. It has a ginormous bristle brush and the formula is thick and truly black. It lengthens, but mostly it gives insane amounts of volume. I like to wipe the brush on the side of the packaging though as it dispenses quite a lot of product otherwise. Around 10€ here.
  2. Essence Lash Princess Mascara - surprisingly, this has a plastic brush which I generally hate, but it works very well! The formula is thin, but opaque, and it gives both volume and length. The best thing about it is, of course, the price - around 3€ here.
  3. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette - I know everyone's all about the second edition of this palette which came out this year, but I'm still swooning over the first one. I love matte shadows and this one has only mattes, it lasts ages and it has a shade for my brows. Plus, it's small and has a mirror. What's not to love? Available on Feel Unique for about 30€.

  1. Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet - I am utterly in love with these liquid lipsticks. They're insanely creamy, almost like satin, don't settle into the cracks, look pretty and have an amazing selection of colours. My favourites are Pink Pong and Nude-ist. Available here for around 12€.
  2. MAC Lipstick in Lovelorn - I got this back in May and had to include it as I wore it for most of the year. A beautiful rosy, very glossy colour that is really easy to wear and appropriate for every day. Prices vary, I paid around 18€ in Amsterdam.

  1. Catrice Velvet Finish Foundation - another love it or hate it product. It's very high coverage, very creamy, but a little heavy on the face. Good things about it? It covers so well and gives the skin a beautiful finish, like it's porcelain, so matte and just perfect. God, I love it. Plus, it only costs around 7€.
  2. KIKO Soft Touch Blush - I have a really pretty plum one. These are quite pigmented but blend really well, I'd recommend applying them with a fluffy brush and only swirling it once in the product. Really satin-y and just gorgeous, I need more shades. Price is around 8€, get it here.

  1. Models Own Polish for Tans collection - I was head over heels in love with this collection back in May, and I ordered three polishes. Truth be told, they're annoying. Too thick and hard to apply, but the colours are insanely beautiful true neons. I still love them. Around 6€, available here.
  2. Essie Blanc - a pure white. Looks amazing on tanned skin and really chic somehow, it elevates any outfit! You need to clean up your nails after you apply it as it makes any mistake really obvious, but I still just love this one. Costs 10€.
If you're interested in my favourite perfumes, check out my next post, I mentioned all of them!

Oriflame For Him & For Her

For a while, I've been looking for two complimentary perfumes from the same line, one for women and the other for men. I found an interesting option in the Oriflame newsletter with their Eclat fragrances. What did Tilen and I think of them?

Eclat Femme is a white floral, but not very similar to the other perfumes of the kind I usually go for (like Agent Provocateur and Kim Kardashian). Instead of being a sexy straight-up gardenia and tuberose, it's very mildly floral and quite soft, which I do like, but took a bit of getting used to. Instead of gardenia and tuberose, we have soft jasmine, which almost feels luxurious as it creates a blanket-like effect on the skin - it sounds silly, but it really makes me feel like I'm all wrapped up! A very soft fragrance with a mild sillage but surprising lasting power that will make fans of jasmine and soft fragrances very happy. You can find it on the Oriflame website.

What about the men's version?

Eclat Homme is quite a fresh fragrance with citrus and spices, a really nice perfume that is a tad generic, but will make most men pretty happy, so it's a great option for a gift. With bergamot and amber, plus the addition of woodsy notes, it's quite simple but lovely at the same time. And what does Tilen think?
Seems very spring appropriate, you can wear it everyday as it isn't that strong. Perfect for daily use and I like that it isn't overwhelming as I often get headaches when wearing perfume. Not a favourite of mine, but nice to have on my cologne shelf. I quite like the sandalwood note in it.
I personally think these two perfumes would make a really lovely gift, they definitely won't be a miss as they are scents everyone would like! Check them out on the Oriflame website.
Do you and your man have a complimentary scent from the same line?

OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons

Just a really quick post today to show you this beauty of a nail polish and tell you a tragic story! OPI is a brand of nail polish I used to swear by back in the day, but with the arrival of brands like Essie, Orly and China Glaze I forgot about it a little. That is such a shame, and now that I've tested out some more of their nail polishes, I'm hooked again. OPI has an amazing brush, an awesome formula and average lasting power (better than bad like most nail polishes which chip on me the same day).

Here we have Don't Pretzel My Buttons, and it's truly the most beautiful nude in my collection. It's very light, but not as light as Orly's Pure Porcelain, for example, and not as brown as some nudes. It's very neutral, not brown, not pink. Just a beautiful soft nude colour. Best part? It's only around 5€ on this amazing website.

And finally, the worst part - as I was taking photos of this nail polish, I dropped it on the floor and it shattered! I was incredibly sad because I had just found my favourite nude and it's so beautiful, plus it was a nightmare to clean. Awful!

I found this nail polish on Fragrance Direct, which is an amazing discount site. Check out their OPI polishes here and don't forget to check out the other offers, they have some amazing things!

Yankee Candle Christmas Wax Tarts

Merry Christmas!

I have a very Christmas appropriate post for you today as I'll be reviewing the Yankee Candle Christmas 2014 wax tarts. I have 6 of them and I wanted to talk to you about the scents and how to use them. Let's get started.

  1. Let's talk about Icicles first. This is one of my favourites from the collection, because it's such a clever scent. At first I thought, dude, icicles are just frozen water, they cannot have a scent! But as soon as I smelled this wax tart, I was a convert. It smells like a forest in the winter time. Snowy, fresh and woodsy. I absolutely love it and it's so unique. You can get it on Yankee Direct for around 1 pound.
  2. Moving on to Silver Birch, this is another lovely scent that smells quite woodsy, but sweet at the same time. It's described as the scent of fall transitioning into winter, and I definitely smell the trees and the sweetness of the changing leaves. If Icicles is too woodsy for you, you'll like the Sweetnes of Silver Birch. Only 1,20 pounds!
  3. Candy Cane Lane is definitely my favourite out of the entire collection. It's pure sweet peppermint with some nice freshness that is not citrusy, but minty! Perfect for Christmas, and I'll be burning this one today, I cannot wait. So inexpensive as well.
  4. If you like Fluffy Towels from YC and vanilla scents, you would love Angel's Wings! Apparently it's really popular as I cannot even find it on the site. It's very sweet, vanillary and still a little fresh with woodsy notes. I like this one too, it's very unique. Try looking in your local YC store, but hurry up if you want it!
  5. Bay Leaf Wreath is another scent that is really unique, but instantly reminds me of Christmas and the wreaths we used to have around the house. It's a green, woodsy fragrance that is quite fresh. I think there might be some citruses in there as well as it really isn't overwhelming, as you might think Find it here.
  6. Finishing up, we have Christmas Garland, which smells exactly like fresh Christmas trees! My family does not have a real tree, but my grandma used to have one and it smells just like its pine needles. Apparently, there's some berries in there too which is just lovely. Find it here.
I also received a burner for these wax tarts from Yankee Direct, who have an amazing and beautiful selection of burners here. Basically, you place an unscented tea light under the burner and place the wax in the bowl above it, and as it burns, it releases a beautiful fragrance. I absolutely adore these wax tarts because they are much more potent than most candles and they'll give you so much scent! It's also a great way to try out new scents before getting the full-size candle.
Which scent reminds you of Christmas?

Top 4 Festive Orly Nail Polishes

It's Christmas Eve tonight! I thought I'd show you some of my favourite Orly nail polishes for the holiday season. I've been a fan of orly for a long time, they have a great thin formula that is always opaque in 1-2 coats, and they dry pretty fast. I'm not the biggest fan of their thin, round brush, but it's perfectly okay. Let's see which colors I love this winter.

  1. Orly Red Flare - This is the most gorgeous and really unique red shade, it's very deep and quite dark, but not vampy yet. Perfect if you want a darker red nail polish but are afraid of going too dark.
  2. Orly In the Navy - what a beautiful blue. I'm wearing it right now and it's opaque with one coat, but despite being such a dark shade it has this beautiful sheen that makes it stand out a lot.
  3. Orly Luxe - a gorgeous, shimmery/glittery true gold. This is amazing because it really does look so luxurious, but is easy to remove, which is definitely not the usual case.
  4. Orly Rage - rose gold, my love ... From the same collection as Luxe, again, easy to remove, and opaque in one coat. These two look beautiful as accent nails as well.
All of these polishes were found on Fragrance Direct and they only cost around 4€ - serious craziness! They have quite a few shades so definitely check them out & order some here.
What's your favourite festive nail polish? & merry Christmas, my lovelies!

Candle Empties

Hello, my name is Živa and I am a candle-a-holic.

In the past few months, I've managed to accumulate an enormous collection of candles and finally, I've used up enough of them to constitute an empties post. I still have 4, which is scaring me a little, because I'm used to having about 482712693 and I feel like I need to buy more ... *serious candle lady problems* Let's get started with the empties now!

I've used up quite a few Yankee Candle candles, the first one being Strawberry Buttercream, which I've reviewed here. This is a beautiful candle with the scent of strawberries and cream which I would love to repurchase. You can find it here.

  1. Next is Yankee Candle Cinnamon Appleberry, a part of their fall collection, which has the most lovely scent of crisp autumn apples and sweet cinnamon. I loved burning this one as it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet but quite fresh instead. Check out more Yankee Candles here.
  2. I also have a Halloween Yankee Candle called Ghostly Treats, not sure if this is still available but it smellled sweet and just like marshmallows on a fire! I loved this one, apparently I'm really into sweet scents when it comes to candles. Check out more Yankee Candles here.
  3. And the last Yankee Candle, Tahitian Tiaré Flower, which smells like my absolute favourite white flower - gardenia. It's very floral and light, and I find that perfect because sometimes floral candles can be very overwhelming, and this one creates a lovely soft fragrance. Check out more Yankee Candles here.
  4. Moving on to Timothy Dunn, I received their Blue Rose candle in a swap. Again, a very floral fragrance which I liked a lot, though it was a lot stronger then the aforementioned YC one. This is a really luxurious candle that comes in heavy white glass and looks amazing in any room. Check out their beautiful products here.
  5. Now for Glade, I had their Wild Mulberry candle which was a lovely fruity scent but didn't last really long - I think I went through it in 2-3 days (oops). It was a nice scent, but if you like Glade candles, I'd really suggest checking out their Christmas collection, they have some amazing scents!
  6. I've reviewed an Ecosse candle before, but this one is a different scent called Homemade Shortbread, that is a really unique sweet and buttery scent. Ecosse candles have had a huge makeover and they look even lovelier now, I would strongly suggest checking them out!
  7. And finally, who knew Muji made candles? And they're amazing! I've had their Grapefruit & Lytchee tin candle for so long that it isn't even available on the site anymore *great job Živa*. It was a really lovely and very fruity & fresh candle that was such nice quality, and surprisingly lasted ages. I loved the scent of this one and the overall quality, it was very strongly scented.

So basically, I've managed to use up 7 candles - I don't know if I should be sad that they're gone or happy I have more space in my room now. All I know is I have an urge to shop for more scents ... Horrible!

Updates, new blog & ask me anything!

I've been absent from the blog for a while, and I finally thought I would do a little update post to let you all know what has been happening with me! I've basically gone from posting every day to being very sporadic, which I'm embarassed, and quite sad about. Hopefully things will change for the better, but here's what's been going on ...

I got a new job

I've mentioned this here and there in passing, but let's take a minute to talk about it now. You know I used to work at Yves Rocher and Cosmopolitan magazine, but it was time for new adventures, so now I'm working at an online cosmetics store here in Slovenia called Click2Chic. It's a fun job, but it takes up a lot of my time as I usually work full days, so it's really hard to find time for posting, as it's winter now and the days are so short.

You can read my posts on the Click2Chic blog

Sorry, they are in Slovenian, but if you'd like to read more of my posts please head to the Click2Chic blog, there's some amazing content on there. This is one of the main aspects of my job and I love it because I got to connect more with the ever so lovely Maja. I hope you like those posts and feel free to ask me about them if you're interesting in something and you don't understand Slovenian.

I started a brand new book blog called Bookterflies

Some people have been following my old blog, Quite Bookish. Really. for a while, but I really wanted to have a more special place so Bookterflies was born! I really hope you'll head on over and check it out, it's so pretty with the new design and there are quite a few reviews up already. I've been reading loads so definitely keep an eye out for even more opinions.

I've been feeling down

As some of you may know, I have depression and with the new job and some other things happening in my life, I've been feeling very down lately. It's nothing critical, but I often find myself unhappy and really stressed, and my confidence has gone down a lot, so it's been hard to post regularly ... Hopefully I'll get over this unpleasantness and I'll be back to happy-go-lucky Živa in no time.

You can ask me anything!

I've never done a Q&A and I finally thought it might be time to do one. I don't know if you really care about that, but just in case you have some questions/requests for me, I'd love to answer them. If there's enough comments I'll do a post, otherwise I'll just answer in the comments. You can ask anonymously by the way, or if you'd rather stay even more private, you can always e-mail me at nothinfancyreally@gmail.com.

Go ahead, ask me anything in the comments!

Parfums D'Orsay La Dandy EDP

I'm finally back! I've been taking a bit of a hiatus because I'm very busy at the moment, but hopefully I'll be back to posting regularly very soon. So today I decided to share a review of a very unique fragrance which is a lovely addition to my perfume shelf! Let's talk about La Dandy.

Parfum D'Orsay is a French parfumerie and I immediately fell in love with their pretty, classic bottles, the interesting illustrations accompanying them and the descriptions of the perfume. I chose La Dandy and waited eagerly for it to arrive in the mail. As soon as I opened it, I knew this was a very, very special fragrance.

I think there is a trend going on in the perfume world, and the most popular ones are gourmands, floral-fruity combinations and so on. Unfortunately, many perfumes have become generic and are really nothing special - which is definitely not the case with La Dandy.

La Dandy is a beautiful citrus & spice fragrance that has a unique blend of notes, one I haven't smelled anywhere before. Initially, you get an explosion of fruits with citruses like bergamot, and peaches, which slowly starts settling down into a creamy mix of cinnamon, cloves and ylang ylang (surprisingly does not remind me of Christmas, but is instead very fresh and lovely). Finally, it settles down with notes of honey and sandalwood

It has a lasting power of 4+ hours on me, and the sillage is moderate, but as I've mentioned time and time again, my skin just drinks up any fragrance so it will probably last longer on you.

If you are looking for a unique, beautiful fragrance, I would look no further than Parfums D'Orsay. This is so beautiful and nothing like any woman has on her shelf already. Also would make a beautiful Christmas or Valentine's day present! You can purchase the perfume here from 75€ - what a beautiful luxury gift!

What is your favourite kind of perfume - floral, sweet, spicy ...?

Revlon Moisture Stains VS Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet

Liquid lipsticks, long lasting glosses ... They seem to be all the rage these days, don't they? I thought I would do a comparison of two more popular brands which both have a product of this kind, and I chose the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets as well as the Revlon Moisture Stains. Which product is the winner for me? Let's see their attributes first.

The Bourjois products are very, very soft on the lips. They almost feel like satin, you barely feel them on and they're easy to apply. That being said, the texture is a little 'different' - it takes a few wears to get completely used to it. The Revlon Moisture Stains, on the other hand, feel like a gloss on the lips. Quite moisturizing when you apply them, but they do dry your lips during the day. They're also a little bit sticky.
Bourjois 1, Revlon 0

Colour selection
I have to say I love Bourjois much more in this aspect. I would love to own every single one of the colours in the Velvets range, while Moisture Stains have some gorgeous shades, but some really weird ones as well. I for one am definitely not a fan of bright orange or brownish, dark nudes, and I don't know any woman who loves makeup that would go for such a shade.
Bourjois 2, Revlon 0

This is a hard one. I really love the Bourjois packaging, it's classy and pretty, plus you can see the colour pretty well. But Revlon ... Gorgeous square tubes, which look way more expensive than they actually are. I also love the applicator, which is larger than the Velvets and more bendable.
Bourjois 2, Revlon 1

Lasting power
Another tough decision! Velvets stay a really long time, but they dry my lips out a lot and they settle into the cracks, which doesn't look too attractive. The Revlon Moisture Stains fade, on the other hand, until they end up as a stain.
Bourjois 2, Revlon 2

As you can see, I'm pretty much undecided. On one hand, I love the Velvets, on the other, Moisture Stains are great. But I would say when it comes to the liquid itself, Bourjois is better. Revlon has a better packaging and they would surely be the winner if they expanded their color range. So which one should you get?

Get Revlon Moisture Stains if ...

  • you like glossy textures
  • you like vampy shades or brights (I'd recommend Parisian Passion and Miami Fever)
  • you like classy, sleek packaging

Get Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets if ...

  • you like long lasting lip products (yes, even with kissing ;P )
  • you want a wide variety of colors
  • you like satin textures

I didn't mention the price, as they are pretty much the same for both products - around 10€. & there you go! I hope this post helped - I find myself quite overwhelmed with the wide selection of all these liquid lipsticks ...

In fact, I'm already wearing a gorgeous nude & gold manicure which I can't wait to show you ...

  2. Orly Red Flare
  3. Orly Luxe

Skincare I'm Excited To Try

I have tons of skincare, and lately, I've been trying to stick to one thing so I don't irritate my skin too much. Nonetheless, there are quite a few items awaiting to be tried out in my drawer, and today I decided to share them with you! What am I excited to start using? Let's see ...

The Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate is a really cool and innovative product that is supposed to help your skin protect itself from pollution, aging and daily stress. This is really someting you need to use daily, which is why I can't really report on any effects, as I've only used it a couple of times. It's a very light and pleasantly scented formula, though. At first I thought it was a gimmick, but the more I think about it, the more intrigued I am! This is a high end product, it costs from 95-125€.

Next up, one of my favourite skincare brands ever, and I product I've been coveting for years ... Vichy Idéalia Serum. This has the most gorgeous packaging and is supposed to help the texture of your skin and protect it from effects of smoking, stress, the sun and the wrong diet (hello). You can get this serum on Salma.si for around 30€.

The Balea Teint Perfection Primer has been in my collection for at least half a year, as embarrassed as I am to admit it. I just completely forgot about it! This is a silicone based primer which is supposed to erase pores and be used under makeup. I'll give it a go this week and report back. It costs around 8€, if I am not mistaken, and you can buy it in drogerie markt.

And finally, another product I've wanted to try for ages! The REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial. Oblak Commerce were kind enough to send me a little sample, and, as a matter of fact, I'm going to try it as soon as I finish typing up this post! It's supposedly a miracle worker, so I'm very excited. The fullsize with 75 ml of product is available here for 53€.

My neverending quest to find some great skincare continues ... I really love trying out new things, but have been sticking to some Vichy favourites lately as they really do help!
What skincare product has got you excited?

Two hair masks, two reviews

Ever since I got highlights (post on that coming soon), my hair has been quite dry and brittle. It keeps tangling and breaking, and I really needed a good hair mask to fix that situation. The saviours came in two round jars, filled with hair mask goodness! I have two amazing hair masks here today, and I cannot wait to tell you about them.

Let's start with the drugstore option, which is the Cece of Sweden Argain Hair Mask, which costs around 6€. This is a lovely option for dry and damaged hair, mostly it helps my hair now that it has had highlights added to it, which damaged it quite a bit. The mask is pleasantly scented and somehow managed to help my hair get to the condition it was before I color treated it, which I am really happy about. I really want to try the other products from the line as well.

And the other product I wanted to mention - Tigi Bed Head Urban Antidotes Recovery Treatment Mask. This one costs around 20€ on FeelUnique. This is the perfect solution for hair that is dry and brittle! The description is perfectly right - it actually injects your hair with so much moisture, you will notice a difference after a single use - amazing. It also makes my hair smell really nice, and helps frizziness.

This duo is perfect for combating dry (Tigi) and damaged (Cece of Sweden) hair! I think my hair looks pretty good, considering I've added highlights recently.

Two new blemish fighters for acne prone skin

As you know, my skin is very problematic. I'll be the first to admit I don't take good care of it. Lately I'm so tired it happens a lot that I just fall asleep with all my makeup on, and the consequences are obvious! I received two products for review though and have been using them as often as I can, and my skin actually looks a lot better than it did two weeks ago! So here are two mini reviews ...

Let's start with Vichy Normaderm Anti-Imperfections Care, a pharmacy favourite. I use this as a moisturizer, both in the daytime as well as the night, and it seems to be working well for me. It's pleasantly scented, just be careful not to apply to much as it will not sink into the skin. Using this, I saw similar effects as with Hyaluspot, which is also from the range by Vichy. My blemishes were quicker to heal and go down in swelling, and my dark spots were lightened a lot, which I'm very happy about! You can get it on Salma for 12€.

Now for the Artistry Intensive Skincare, the luxury option. This is not targeted specifically at acne, more so at problematic skin. This one did an amazing job of refining the texture of my skin. I've been using it for about a month and I can honestly tell when I've used it as opposed to when I fall asleep, full face of makeup still on. It really helps my pores, and while they are still enlarged I definitely think the size has diminished. My skin also seems less prone to blemishes and even Tilen says it's really soft. Score! You can get it on the Amway website for around 70€.

I'd also like to stress that sleeping with your makeup is a big no-no. I honestly hate that I do it so often, but I'm usually so tired and stressed I just forget. I want to make it my mission to stop doing this - who's with me?

Picture perfect & pathetic

I don't know how familiar you are with the world of Twitter chats. Basically, they're a fun way of interacting with other bloggers while answering questions & just chatting in general. Unfortunately, lately I feel like the chats have turned into an all-around feast for advertising blogs and no one really paid attention to the conversation anymore.

Enter #crazybloggers.

The mastermind behind The Persephone Complex, a blog I've loved almost obsessively for a few months now, set up this open minded chat, completely different from the usual 'What's your favourite beauty product for fall?' to 'Do you think posting risqué content would diminish your readership?' I am completely in love with this idea, in love with Holly, in love with being open about ourselves. Why shouldn't we post about things that are considered taboo - by doing so, we are only admitting that they are exactly that, and they shouldn't be.

I write content for my blog daily, yet there is a lot of stuff I don't talk about.

I don't tell you I take four pills every day.
I don't discuss the fact they made me gain over 30 pounds.
I don't tell you about my high school experience, which was truly abysmal.
I've never told you how awkward I was, how I thought no one would ever love me.
I didn't even discuss my depression and history of self harming, even though I promised I would.

You know, bloggers sometimes put up a front - at least I know I do. I pretend everything is so picture perfect, when in reality, sometimes I can barely hold it together. I write daily content for Nothin' Fancy. Really., I work full time, I'm trying to start so many new projects, I'm in a serious relationship. But I also have Borderline Personality Disorder with severe anxiety and panic attacks, I can't really look at myself when I'm not wearing clothes, I still have the urge to scratch my arms like I used to years ago. But on this blog and social media, I pretend like I'm such a fun, carefree person. Like I don't have a care in the world.

I'm not saying I'm unhappy. Actually, this is the happiest I've been in, well, ever. But I'm not perfect nor will I ever be. I want to open people's eyes and make them see that this is perfectly normal. No, it's not okay that you're unhappy, but other people feel this way, too. What you need to know is that you can get help! If you ever need to talk to someone, you can always write me an anonymous e-mail at nothinfancyreally@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from you.

This post doesn't have much of a point, does it? I guess I wanted to ask you whether you'd like me to talk about more serious topics sometimes. I'd love to discuss anything and everything, but sometimes I feel so limited and afraid. I'm being small-minded - I know. I want us to strive to a more open community, to help each other and better ourselves. And sometimes, it won't do any good to hide in that dark corner of your room you've deemed to be your safe place. Sometimes you need to open up and discover yourself - because it is only then that you will realize how beautiful you are.
What kind of topic would you like to discuss? Anything goes!

Tilen Time Thursday - Fall Essentials

Finally, another Tilen Time Thursday! For those of you that are new, Tilen is my boyfriend and sometimes, he likes to light up this little blog of mine with his posts. Here we go ...

Hey everyone, I know it’s been some time I wrote a post but I had to sort out some things with work and my faculty before I could get back to it. I usually don’t post about a lot of things but this time I decided to post some of my autumn attire.

The leaves are slowly but surely falling and we’re nearing the season to be jolly but we’re not quite there yet. It’s gotten really cold here but not so much so I’d have to start wearing a coat so that is why I’m sticking to knitwear such is the grey cardigan you can see in the picture. I also have one in dark blue and a darker shade of grey (yes, I have a thing for grey). I’ve bought all of them in H&M and they are lasting me quite for some time now. I was also lucky to get them on discount.

Next up we have some T-Shirts from H&M and Zara but don’t ask me which one is from where. I can only say for sure that the burgundy and black V-Necks are from H&M. I really wear these a lot since they are a bit longer and therefore a bit slimming.

The jeans are from Zara which was surprising for me since I usually don’t find a good pair of trousers or jeans in Zara since their sizes for men seem don’t seem to include tall and not-all-that-skinny people. If I find a good pair of jeans I’ll probably wear just them until I somehow wear them up and these are such a case. Most of the time I pair them up with the boots that I also featured here. I’ve taken up rolling the bottom part of them so I don’t step on them and I think it really looks good.

Now I don’t know how other guys go about shoes but if I buy a new pair of shoes (actually, Živa bought me these) I want to be able to wear them at least for two seasons so that’s why I like to spend a little more on them. These weren’t that expensive and I’m sure they still have some if you check Deichman.

Then we have the wallet and the belt, both bought in Primark during our trip to Amsterdam. I have another belt like this with the same buckle only in black. The only thing I really went overboard during that trip was the beanies which I also got in Primark. They were sooo cheap so I said why not stock up.

The satchel (yes, it’s not a bag) was from C&A and comes with a strap. It really comes in handy when I have to go to work and don’t want to carry my backpack and it has really nice compartments.
Last but not least we have the Bvlgari Man in Black which is currently my favourite perfume, courtesy of Živa. It really smells so good and if I put it on it will last me through the entire day. I’m not good with describing scents so if you’d want a more thorough description you can read Živa’s post about it.

Well, that’s all for now. I know I always say that I’ll post more frequently but I really am trying. Hope you liked the post.

See you soon!

L'Erbolario Papavero Soave

Oh boy, do I have a good one for you today ... As you may have seen in one of my recent hauls, I received a bottle of L'Erbolario Papavero Soave EDP for review at work. I smelled this fragrance on my boss and it was amazing, so I knew immediately I would request it. I got it a few weeks ago and have not stopped wearing it since - even on days when I wear a different perfume, I end up spraying this on myself when it fades!

Papavero Soave is based off the scent of sweet poppies, coming from the Italian brand L'Erbolario (which is just lovely). It's a floral, sweet & spicy perfume with notes of poppies, jasmine, prunella and artemisia. To put it in layman's terms, it smells incredibly sweet and sexy, stays close to the skin but lasts ages. It's truly a gorgeous fragrance and so so perfect for the colder months! I am in love with this one!

You want to know the best part? Papavero Soave only costs around 20€ for a 50 ml bottle. Total bargain and really worth it in my opinion!

3 Magazines I Love

Suffice it to say I'm a big reader - always have been & probably always will be. However, sometimes I need a visual break from all the books I read, and that's when I reach for a magazine. Today I really wanted to share three of my favourites, including a special new discovery which I've been really loving. Let's see what we have ...

First of all, Allure. This is the American version - I'm not sure if international ones exist, this is just the one I usually get. Allure is a beauty magazine filled to the brim with beauty products, reviews, new launches, tips and tricks. I really love it and decided to share it because it's quite inexpensive to subscribe to it online! For example, for a year you will only pay around $40! In the past, I subscribed to Seventeen magazine (cringe) and I loved getting an issue each month, and it's so inexpensive.

Next find is Glamour UK. Now unfortunately, you can't sign up for this one for so cheap, but it's available more readily. I used to love Glamour and bought it religiously. It's a good one for mixing things up, as it touches on lifestyle topics as well as beauty and fashion. I mainly read the beauty and fashion bits of course, as they are much more accessible than American magazines.

And finally, the star of the show. People StyleWatch. You might be thinking - what the hell is this random thing doing in Živa's post? Indeed, I picked it up completely by random because the cover looked cute. But this magazine is amazing - not for shopping the pieces, but for all the outfit ideas! It's completely full of amazing products, suggestions and much, much more. I'm going to subscribe to this one for sure, because it's seriously amazing, and everyone I've showed it to (ie. my mom and boss) loved it too! I've linked a random site I haven't used for subscriptions yet, but I'll report back when I do.

6 Fall/Winter Berry Lip Picks

I'm jumping on the bandwagon and doing a berry lips post - it was high time, since I'm really in love with this particular shade. While checking my makeup collection, I found so many products to include, plus the perfect Shakespeare quote to include & I just love these photos. Let's see which products I chose ...

For the shy girl ...
Pick Korres Lip Butter in Wild Rose. It's light, feels like nothing on the lips and moisturizes as well. The color looks really intense but is actually perfectly subtle and you can easily wear it during the day, or as an evening colour in case it's a statement for you. Price is around 10€, you can get it on FeelUnique.

For the lipgloss lover ...
If you have a hard time getting on with lipsticks, look no further than the new Revlon Moisture Stains. I love this one in the shade 005 Parisian Passion, available on Click2Chic.si for around 11€. The colour is not as opaque, but instead a beautiful dark berry that feels moisturizing on the lips.

For the goth girl ...
Look no further than Models Own Blackcurrant. This is a lipstick even I am hesitant to wear, but if you want a straight up purple-black, it's the one for you. It's incredibly opaque and creamy, plus it lasts ages. Not sure where you can get it - Models Own stores, probably?

For the fashionista ...
Try Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous plummy berry colour that feels moisturizing and looks semi-matte. This is from the first collection of these stains, not the Lacquer/Mattes and I love the finish. Available on Click2Chic.si for around 11€.

For the daring girl ...
How about Models Own Lipstix in Purple Pleasure? This is definitely one for the brave girls, as it's a pure pumped up purple, no hints of pink or red. It's gorgeous, but takes some courage to wear! Available on Click2Chic.si for a bargainous 6€.

For the classic lover ...
Two words - MAC Rebel. It's an all around winner, popular around the globe and one you cannot miss the mark with. Gorgeous, long lasting, a little bit drying, but so, so worth it. Available at your local MAC counter, prices may vary (I paid around 18€).

There you have it my lovely girls - one for everyone! I hope you love this post as much as I loved writing & preparing it.

La Roche Posay Hydraene BB Cream

Today I have a very, very belated review and giveaway for you. I'm so sorry I've been MIA for the past few weeks, I came down with something stomach related and it was absolutely horrible! So I'm using my weekends to prepare lots and lots of posts for all of you. Today I have a very exciting review which will end in a giveaway (this time for my Slovenian readers only, sorry).

I've been asked to try out the La Roche Posay Hydraene BB Cream. Since I'm a big fan of the brand, I didn't hesitate much when they wanted to collaborate, but unfortunately the shade I received was way too dark for me. A week or so ago, I got the correct shade for my skin, which is Light, and it's a much better match. This product comes in two shades as you might have guessed, and my giveaway will be for the Medium shade - more for those that have a darker complexion.

Why do I like La Roche Posay products? They're incredibly hydrating and feel soothing on the skin, and they are nicely scented, but don't irritate the skin at all. I love how the brand has transitioned into BB Creams as I feel like the product feels more like skincare than actual makeup.

As you know, my skin is very problematic, but it has miraculously been a bit better the past week or so, so this BB Cream is a lovely solution. It provides low to medium coverage depending on if you build it up or only apply one layer. I like it the most for weekends, because I don't wear much makeup if I'm just at home or going grocery shopping, but this is great.

The product would be lovely for sensitive skin, and if you dislike heavy coverage foundations, look no further. This is incredibly light and pleasant to wear - a nice change from my usual heavy duty foundations. I would definitely recommend it, though be careful with shades. Light is okay for me, but I find it's best to mix Light and Medium together.

Now for the giveaway - I'll be giving away 9 La Roche Posay Hydraene BB Creams in the shade Medium. Please only enter if you know this shade would suit you or want to gift it to someone that could wear it!

Beauty Haul (for work)

As I've mentioned a few posts back, I have another beauty haul for you today, and this one is work related. I haven't spoken much about my new job, but if you'd like, I might do a Questions & Answers post where I'll tell you all about it. I work for an online cosmetics store and I received some items from it to post about them. Here is a group photo of everything I got, and I'll tell you a little bit about the products I'm most excited about ...

Starting off with Revlon, I got a bunch of things from the line, including the Moisture Stains, and some Balms (I love them all!), I also got a gorgeous nail polish which you'll see in action soon enough. An eyeliner which is a staple was also a welcome addition to my ever growing makeup collection.

I haven't tried many things from Sleek but I love their blusher. I got two eyeliners from the brand which are absolutely gorgeous, one is navy and the other is gold. I really want to show them to you soon because they're incredibly long lasting and I also love that packaging ...

Kardashian Beauty also made an appearance and I have to say I absolutely love their nail polishes as well as the lipstick which I got. I was really underestimating this brand as it is actually quite lovely!

And now for some random things, my favourite of everything I got is surely the L'Erbolario Papavero Soave perfume, which I'll review soon. This scent is so unique and beautiful, very sweet but not obviously so. I am completely in love with it! I also really like the BH Cosmetics mascara, which comes in the prettiest packaging, and the Cece of Sweden mask, which unfortunately didn't make it onto the photo but is an amazing product nonetheless.

Needless to say, I'm incredibly grateful I'm able to receive things like this from my job, and it really makes me happy. I also want to do a giveaway with my favourite items from the store, so definitely let me know if you'd be interested in that!

Madonna Truth or Dare Naked EDP

Another perfume review today (they're personally my favourite posts to write and I really hope you all like them as well). This is another bottle I got from Salma.si and a highly coveted perfume for me, as it was heavily recommended by a forum I'm a part of ... What did I think?

First, let's just touch on the price. On Salma, I paid around 14€ for 50 ml, which is a complete bargain for this scent. I actually think it smells way more expensive than it looks, and I also love the gorgeous bottle, which is very thin. The liquid itself looks like liquid bronze - so luxurious and pretty. But what about the juice?

The original Truth or Dare reminds me of Fracas by Robert Piguet with heavy notes of tuberose and gardenia. Truth or Dare Naked is not as floral, instead replacing the heavy florals with spiciness and sweetness. With notes of benzoin and cocoa, sandalwood and lovely additions of vanilla orchid and peach blossoms, it's a very special fragrance. It does not suit my personal taste, though - it really reminds me of grapes, you know the Izabela kind that is very popular in the Mediterranean? I don't mind it, but it doesn't smell amazing on me. I found it a great home though with my boss, who suits this perfume perfectly in my opinion.

If you're looking for a different sweet and spicy fragrance, Madonna Truth or Dare Naked is definitely something to try, and it's so inexpensive! Nicely crafted and complex, and very appropriate for fall. Get it here.
What kind of fragrances do you like most? Spicy, sweet, floral ...?

Everyday Makeup Look With Catrice

I never really like doing a full face makeup for taking photos, which is why you don't see many FOTDs from me. First of all, my eyes are so hooded they make it impossible to see any shadow on them and second, I end up not liking any of the photos, and more often then not, these photoshoots end in tears. But today I managed to scrape up a post for you where I actually show my face (shock! horror!) I used all things Catrice and I really hope you enjoy the final result.

I started with my current full coverage foundation routine, which includes the Catrice Velvet Finish Collection (concealer, foundation and powder, I use them all in shade 010). Then, I added some blush on the cheeks using Catrice Illuminating Blush in shade 020 Coral Me Maybe. Then for my brows ... I started with this really cool product, which is called Catrice Long Lasting Brow Definer - it's basically a marker pen for your brows, and it really does last, but I also fixed my brows in place with the Catrice Fixing Brow Wax. I worked on my eyelids next, using the Catrice Absolute Matt Palette and adding a swipe of their Liquid Liner, plus some Lash Extension Volume Mascara. And finally, the lips ... I decided to go for a bright pink shade, and I used Catrice Meet Pinky lipstick from one of their older limited edition collections. Here is the final look ...

I really enjoy Catrice and I've been using their products since they came to Slovenia. They're such an affordable brand that actually makes really high quality items and I've loved everything I've tried from them so far! Recommend it for sure.

Project 10 Pan Update & Empties

Happy Halloween everyone! I was going to do some tutorials, but let's face it - my skills are not all that and I was so busy I could barely fit in blogging at all, hence my short break from this site (sorry about that). I hope you'll spend your day in a creepy haunted house, or whatever floats your boat. I'm going to be talking Project 10 Pan updates today. You may have noticed I've been doing some hauls (and another one's coming tomorrow), but I still haven't broken my ban! I got all of the items during blogger events and for my new job, which I'll speak about in more detail soon. So I actually haven't bought anything, which I'm very proud of, it's been what - a month? Crazy!

That being said, I also wanted to share some empties with you today. This past month, I've managed to go through 5 things and I'm here to give you my opinion on all of them. I mostly have hair care with one body item thrown in. Let's see ...

Starting off with Satinique Anti-Hairfall Shampoo and Conditioner, this is another duo I got at a blogger event. Now I've reviewed both of these already here, but let me quickly say a few things. I have to say I did not notice a difference with my hair falling out. But nonetheless, this duo was really amazing. I often use shampoos and they work well for the first few washes, but later just end up making my hair greasy and straw-like. Not this duo, though - I'm actually sorry I used them up instead of relieved! Would I recommend them? Not if you're dealing with hair loss, yes if you just want an amazing shampoo and conditioner.

Next we have the Dove Refresh + Care Dry Shampoo. I got this ages ago and it took me this long to use it up - honestly, despite Essiebutton and plenty of other Youtubers and bloggers raving about it, it just did not convince me. It smells too strong (classic powdery scent), looks super white and is hard to comb out, plus it makes my hair really stringy. I just don't like it, and I would recommend or repurchase it.

Let's do a positive one now - TIGI Catwalk Oatmeal & Honey hair mask. This baby is perfect for the season as it smells exactly like Christmas. Cinnamon, oranges and honey, yummy. I don't particularly care about the scent of my hair masks, but I do in this case. Plus, it really helps my hair to be extremely soft and very manageable at the same time, which I just love. Worth the hype!

And finally, a Balea Summer Garden Shaving Gel. This is lovely, and so inexpensive. I'm pretty sure this particular one is a limited edition, but you can find others seasonally. I really strongly recommend it, for 1€ you'll be making shaving so much more enjoyable (I know it sounds not-doable, but trust me).

There we go, 5 down - 4 in hair care and 1 in body care. I'm finding it incredibly hard to use up makeup though, especially with all the new stuff I've been adding (not that I'm complaining).
What was the last beauty item you used up?

Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial EDP

Let's talk perfumes today. I received a coupon for Salma.si and decided to get two fragrances, both of which I will be reviewing soon. Today's post is dedicated to Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial Eau de parfum. This perfume was described to me as sexy beyond belief and something my man would not be able to resist. Did it live up to the claims?

Unfortunately, not for me or Tilen. This perfume is quite powdery, which I don't mind at all, but what bothers me is the patchouli. I am very, very sensitive to this particular note and whenever it is too strong, I find I just cannot enjoy the scent. This was a blind buy and I was really hoping patchouli would not be too strong, but it is and I cannot wear it at all. That being said, I can still appreciate a good fragrance regardless of my personal tastes and I can honestly tell you this is a beautifully crafted, luxurious fragrance. Patchouli blends with notes of vanilla and iris, sweet caramel and nutty tonka bean to make an interesting mix of sweetness and powder along with some aromatic woody notes. Interesting.

While this perfume is not for me, I'm sure many women would enjoy it. I also think it could be extremely sexy when worn by a confident woman ... Give it a try. Available on Salma.si from 37,90€.
