More lovely things

Yes, I went shopping again... This time for things I needed, because I had just run out of foundation, body wash and face wash. The hair mask was a sweet little bonus. :P And I got the brow pencil and brush because I actually had my makeup professionally done for the first time today, and I absolutely loved it! She did such an amazing job with my eyebrows that I decided to purchase these two things and try to use them the same way Azra did. I will let you know how I get on. :)

The other things from Penhaligon's, REN, Yes! Nurse and Jurlique were sent to me for review, and I am super excited to try them all out, they all seem amazing! Stay tuned for the reviews.

P.S. I didn't buy ONE perfume, nail polish, lipstick or blusher in like a month!! *super proud*

Everyday makeup!

Well, I haven't done an everyday makeup routine on this blog yet, so I thought it would be perfect timing to one now! Let's get going then. :)

I start with applying YSL Touche Éclat Foundation, which I apply and blend with my fingers. I continue with my Sleek Blush in Pixie Pink, which is applied using a Sigma blush brush. Next up, I usually do my eyebrows with a shade I forgot to swatch from the Naked Basics Palette - it's called Faint. I continue with W.O.S. from the same palette in the center of my eyelid, Naked 2 in the crease and Venus on the browbone. I add some liquid liner from Essence and MAC Opulash Mascara. I finish off the look with Clinique Chubby Stick in Pudgy Peony. I use Sigma brushes for my makeup, but they are in desperate need of replacing, so I will be purchasing the Real Techniques brushes soon.

By the way, I don't have a good picture of me wearing this makeup, but above you can see a photo of what generally go for! So a nice lip colour, defined eyes and brows, and a lot too much blusher!

If you are interested, I can do an updated makeup routine for summer! :)

A completely unnecessary purchase

So yes, a purchase that was most definitely not needed, but ended up in my bag nonetheless. What's my excuse? This stuff is so inexpensive, I spent only about 20€! That good enough? No? Well... I don't care, I smell like raspberries! :3

So as you can see I got a lot of Balea products, including two limited edition body products, a cream and a body mousse. They are described as Sunny Peach and Raspberry and I can't wait to try them! Also got a mango scented Nourishing Hair Milk by Balea, as well as some Beach Hair Spray by got2b, some Balea raspberry shampoo which I've mentioned already, a Balea makeup remover and an Essence lip cream (which I love).

Stay tuned to see if any of these products make it into my favourites! What did you buy lately? :)

Spring 2013 Scents

I know, I know, I'm kind of late with this... But I thought, better late than never, right?

Today I'm bringing you a selection of perfumes that are perfect for spring (gosh, sound like an advertisement right there). I picked some of the scents I've found to be most spring appropriate and here they are today. Let's begin!

Burberry Brit - If you like sweet, vanillary fragrances with a citrus undertone, you will love this. Be careful when you're buying it though, there is the EDT and EDP version and they're very different. Here I'm talking about the perfume, not the Eau de toilette. This is perfect if you have skin that just drinks up perfume, because it's quite strong and very longlasting. And it smells amazing with notes of tonka bean and lime. Almonds add a bit of a bitterness, but it's not unpleasant at all. Definitely an amazing scent that I would recommend for everyday usage. I've described this one so many times now I know it by heart! :)

Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely - This is appropriate for girls (or guys) who like musky and woodsy scents. It is indeed very very musky. It reminds me of Narcisso Rodriguez's fragrance, the one that comes in an all-black or all-pink packaging. The patchouli is strong with this one. May the patchouli be with you. Luke, I am your father. (Did you know that ACTUALLY, those words are never said in Star Wars. He actually says 'No. I am your father.' Okay, geeky moment over) Sooo, the other very apparent note to my nose is the lavender. There is supposed to be bergamot in there as well, but honestly, I don't smell any citruses, the musk is too strong. The scent may be a bit much for you, but I find it perfect on a cold spring day.

Yves Rocher Moment de Bonheur - This one was gifted to me by one of my lovely coworkers at Yves Rocher, Nives. It is very fresh, but kind of sweet at the same time. If I had to guess I'd say this was a floral-fruity blend, but it's actually just floral. The most prominent note is rose and also, patchouli. This is also quite a longlasting perfume, but somehow light at the same time... Might be good if you like inoffensive scents but like them to linger for a while (aka longlasting, but weak sillage). I actually fell in love with this and used it for a few months straight!

Yves Rocher Rose Absolue - My favourite Yves Rocher perfume. It's very, very sweet and smells like rose maramalade, if that even exists. It also has hints of cinnamon in it, in my opinion (but I'm known for smelling notes that aren't even in the perfume). So you will love this if you like sweet scents, like Escada, but even if you don't, give it a try, because it's not sickly sweet at all. It's longevity is average, as well as the sillage, but I still love it. It has its spot among my other favourite perfumes. Perfect for spring, because it smells like rosebuds opening up!

Yves Rocher Comme une Évidence - This one would be perfect for hardcore floral lovers. It also smells of rose, but the note is more subtle and mixed with other flowers as well. It's also not as harsh as Lovely, which is very musky. This has very little musk, so it might be perfect if Lovely is too strong for you! I also really like this for colder spring days and chilly mornings, it really wakes me up and makes me ready for work. The sillage is small, but the longevity is great, this is actually one of the few perfumes that lasts a while on me!

Well, that's it! I tried to pick perfumes that had some variety but are still longlasting. I hope this was helpful. Oh, and by the way, if you want to buy Yves Rocher perfumes and are in Slovenia, the stores opened back up in BTC, and you can also try their local website! :) And no, I am in no way affiliated, since I don't work there anymore - but I liked the scents so much, I stocked up on them!

So many books, so little time!

You guys know me, I can't resist a good book... At least that's what I'm telling myself, even though it's blatantly obvious that I am kindofsortofalittlecompletely ADDICTED!

By the way, if you're interested in chick lit, you should get Jenny Colgan's book Welcome to Rosie Hopkins' Sweet Shop of Dreams, which is currently on sale on The Book Depository for just 4€. Bargain! :)

Lately, I've really been loving these stories that revolve around people taking care of small buisnesses, especially cafés, candy stores... (If you like that too, check out Sweetly for a YA read & The Beach Café for some chick lit!) That's why I'm so glad I discovered the author Jenny Colgan, I hope I like her work! :)

An Impromptu Outfit of the Day

Skirt, vitage, Faux leather vest, H&M, Pussybow sleeveless blouse, H&M

Well, I haven't posted an outfit of the day in ages, and really wanted to do one today, but it's freaking windy outside! So here is a little photo of what I wore today just shot in my room, it's not even a proper OOTD, but well, I thought it was better than nothing, since I really liked what I was wearing!

I've recently been really into vintage shopping and I never knew we had such a cool vintage community here in Slovenia. Now I don't want to go back. Tell me in the comments if you'd be interested in a post about my favourite vintage stores in Ljubljana (if you don't live here, maybe it'll come in handy when you travel ^_^).

I promise I'll post a real outfit as soon as the weather gets a bit better, but until then, I hope this will do!

My favourite lip products of the moment!

Today I decided to show you a few of my favourite lip products. I didn't include the Clinique Chubby Stick in Pudgy Peony, since I already mentioned it in my previous favourites post. But here are some AH-MAZING lippies that should get you right through the summer.

Let's begin with Liz Earle lipstick in 03 Damask Rose*. I love this one, I really do. It's a beautiful pinkish-red shade that isn't as obvious on the lips as you might think. You can definitely see it, but it's not in your face. I personally really like this one for everyday, when I want to add some freshness to my lips. It kind of looks natural even (boy do I wish my lips were naturally this colour). The lipstick is amazing quality as well, it actually isn't gritty in the slightest and it glides on the lips beautifully. When you have it on, you can't even feel it! Available on their website.

Next up is Maybelline Vivid Lipstick in 902 Fuchsia Flash. Now this is the perfect lipstick for summer nights when you go clubbing, in my opinion. It's a real Barbie pink! Super pink, with blue undertones (which make your teeth look whiter!) and slightly matte. This one isn't gritty either, the quality is actually great for a drugstore product. I really like it and I've been wearing it loads even on an everyday basis when I'm just running errands. It might even be a dupe for MAC's Candy Yum Yum... I will let you know when I get my hands on that one in the summer. Also, this has great staying power as it dries to a slightly matte finish. You can get it on FeelUnique.

The third lippy is YSL Rouge Volupte Sheer Candy and I just realized I bought the wrong one, but oh well, I still adore it! First seen on Ana's blog here, I had to get it ASAP. I liked this shade the most, maybe they didn't have the one she has in stock, because I remember this being the darkest? Anyway, it's 4 Succulent Pommegranate and it's a very sheer reddish pink, which looks quite glossy on the lips and feels like a lip balm. Amazing product for summer, because you don't want something really heavy. It also helps moisturize my always chapped lips! Amazing product, definitely worth the price! Buy it here.

And last we have two Revlon lip butters, which have FINA-FREAKING-LLY (pardon my French) gotten to Slovenia, even though we have such a limited amount of shades, it's ridonkulous. I have Berry Smoothie and Sweet Tart, and I can't decide which one I love more. They're both super pretty shades, the first being a bit darker and violet-toned, and the second one is a gorgeous corally pink. They're very very creamy, but I wouldn't call them a lip balm. More of a creamier lipstick, almost something you would expect in pot form. Really amazing products though. I got mine in Ilirija in Ljubljana, they're also available in Nama. Also on this Slovenian website, which carries a few more shades. Internationally, if you can't find them in stores, try hitting up Ebay.

These are all amazing lippies, but I have something to warn you about: beware of these melting in the summer! Don't carry them in your pocket!! I have heard about some makeup bags that are sort of refrigirated or something (that is hilarious and the best invention ever), so I will look into them, because I hate it when my lippies melt and lose their shape!

Cooking Shmooking: Let's begin!

Today I'm coming to you with yet another new series! Tilen and I have recently started cooking, or at least trying to do it. We're complete beginners, so right now we're using recipes from blogs and sites. We decided to share our progress with you, show you the recipes we're using and how they came out. Each recipe will be linked to their respectful website, and I also added Tilen's opinion on the things that we made. I hope you like this new series and our trials and errors. Expect a new post every two weeks or so, and please please please, tell us what you think in the comments! :)

Cinnamon and Thyme's Cranberry cookies

The recipe is available from the beautiful blog Cinnamon and Thyme, which is, coincidentally, one of my favourite cooking blogs. It's available in both Slovenian and English, so you can all use it. ^^
These cookies are made with cranberries and sour cream, as well as oranges, which you can really taste. I made them with Tilen and we also added a little bit of orange juice to the mixture, but I think it made them taste and smell too much like oranges, when the emphasis should have been on the cranberries. Overall, these are simple and easy to make, and also really fun! The best part is making the cookies with your hands. Will definitely make them again, but we'll be careful how long to leave them in the oven, because there's a really thin line between not enough and too long - these were slightly burned, which is why we added the powedered sugar. Clever, aren't we? :P

What Tilen says: I think we might have made a teeny tiny mistake by adding so much orange juice, because it affected the consistency of the dough, but I think it was worth it in terms of flavour. I'm definitely up to make them again as they do have cranberries, which I obsess about & I think I should have to mention that I'm the one who ate like half a bowl of them. (And Živa's mom ate the rest. :P)

Nina in the Spring's Banana Pancakes

http://ninainthespring.blogspot.com/2013/05/banana-yum-breakfast.html

This time we used our dear friend Nina's recipe (whom we both luuuuuurve), because it looked way to good and we couldn't resist. We had these pancakes for dinner the other day, but we had quite a few problems with the dough. It was really runny, so we had some trouble forming pancakes and mostly flipping them. So we ended up mixing it all together and making a sort of scrambled banana-eggy-thingies. We added almond chips and berries (frozen, we just heated them up in the microwave), like Nina suggested, and we agreed that it was really good. Next time we'll just try to make them less runny, maybe add some more bananas and less eggs. But the taste was amazing. Also a great way to make a quick meal, because you only need eggs and bananas, and you often have those at home. Another kind of messed up recipe, but we enjoyed the result!

What Tilen says: The pancakes were really good, but they were hard to flip, so I think we could have added some flour or oats which would make them thicker. I really liked the topping, which consisted of berries and almond chips. We'll definitely make them again but maybe for breakfast rather than dinner. And it's brain food!

Moj svet kuhanja in priprave sladic's Vegan cake

We came across this recipe on a Slovenian blog and it sounded so good, we decided to try it out ASAP. The recipe is in Slovenian, but if you're interested, you can contact me, and I'll send you the translated version. By the way, this blog has several really amazing recipes that I cannot wait to try out. All in all, this simple cake was super easy to make and tasted AH-MAZING. We all loved it! We also didn't mess up too much on it, only we could have chopped up everything even smaller. What's special about this cake is the fact that it doesn't require any baking, and it's also vegan. And really really good!

What Tilen says: This cake surprised me as it didn't require any baking. It was very fun to make as we only needed to blend and mix together the ingredients. I have to say I couldn't resist eating the dough, which, luckily for me, wasn't inedible. And I'd recommend this as a quick dessert as you only need about a half an hour to make it. If you don't like slaving over a hot stove, this is definitely the cake for you.

Okusno.je Spinach salad with pear and gorgonzola

We love fresh spinach used as salad and we had had some at home for ages, so we decided to try a new recipe. This one is from a Slovenian site, but you can just use Google Translate on it, or ask me, and I'll add a translation in this post. The salad mixes some really interesting tastes, and we were a bit doubtful about it in the beginning, but it ended up being great! The tastes really compliment each other and it tastes amazing. My mom even liked it so much that she ended up making it for some guests we had that week. Even my dad, who isn't a big salad fan, was surprisingly impressed. This is also the one recipe we didn't butcher, probably because there wasn't much that could go wrong. :P

What Tilen says: This salad really surprised me as I didn't expect the ingredients would go together. The combination really provides sweet and creamy flavours with a slight bitter aftertaste (due to the spinach). I think it should be served as a first course, but don't be surprised if you end up being full. Out of the four dishes, I would probably make this one the most often, because it's a perfect summer dish.

Empties #4

During the time I wasn't posting, I emptied out quite a few beauty products, but today I'm only showing you six. That is because most of the others were shampoos and I was thinking about doing a separate comparision post on them, where I would tell you which one would be best suited for you. I have about 4 shampoos and conditioners to show you. Would you like that? :)

Now here are the short and sweet reviews of some of the things I emptied out in the last two months (most of these were done with back in Jan & Feb)!

Yves Rocher Jardins du Monde Brasilian Coffee Shower Cream - Oh, my Yves Rocher. :( Just found out it's opening again in Slovenia though, yay! Apparently only the owners changed. So you can still visit the stores, but I won't be there, heh. This shower cream was really great for the colder months (I used it up a while ago), because it's very thick and creamy, and it also lathers up quite nicely. If you're a coffee lover, this is an absolute must-buy, and even I, who rarely drinks coffee, love it! It's really strongly coffee scented and really wakes you up in the morning. Would recommend. The cost is around 3€.

Schauma Cotton Fresh Dry Shampoo - This is my favourite shampoo I've tried so far on the market. It smells really nice and fresh, exactly like freshly washed linen. I love the scent, but I love the effect more - it really does what it's supposed to and takes all the greasiness away from my hair when applied. I don't use it too regularly (I know some girls use dry shampoo as a volumizer), but I did just today! It's perfect for when you're running late. The only thing I wish for is that it wouldn't leave such a white residue, so I'm still looking for something a bit better... Price is really affordable though, around 3€.

Lee Stafford Arganoil Deep Nourishing Treatment* - I did a review on this hair range quite a few months ago, and this was my favourite product out of all the things I mentioned. This mask is supreme, the quality is amazing. It actually makes a difference to the hair, makes them a lot softer and way more managable. I really liked it and I think I will repurchase it. If you have dry or damaged hair, I would strongly recommend it. The instructions say to use it for a week straight (or more, if you don't wash your hair too often) and then apply as needed. You should notice the difference pretty soon. Strongly recommend!

Bioderma H2O Micellar Solution - Finally got my hands on this super hyped-up product and ... Okay, I know I'm going to get some haters here, but I just didn't love it! It really irritated my eyes and didn't take off waterproof makeup at all. So I did use it up, but I will not be repurchasing it. And I don't even have sensitive eyes! If you're interested, I can do a comparision post, because I have now tried about four micellar solutions and have chosen my favourite. Tell me if you'd be interested in that in the comments! :)

Massimo Dutti Ginseng & Tangerine Candle - I didn't even know that Massimo Dutti, a really nice European clothing brand, made candles, but my mom got this as a gift a while ago, and passed it on to me. I personally really loved it because of the nice and simple modernistic design, and I also really liked the smell. This candle is perfect if you want to burn something in the spring and summer, because it's so fresh and citrusy (with a ginger-y pang). It's also really soothing in my opinion, I found myself relaxing considerably when I had this lit. I would repurchase, but I'm not sure about the price, or if they're even available in stores (couldn't find any information about their candles online).

The Body Shop Choco Mania Shower Gel - Well, I'm a sucker for anything chocolate-y, and this is no different. I bought most of the Choco Mania collection back in December, when I was in Munich, and this was the first thing I used up. If you like chocolate, hit up your local TBS, but I'm warning you - this is indeed a chocolate smell, not so sweet and sugary as you might expect, but instead very rich and almost a bit bitter. But I personally adore the scent. Also really liked the creaminess and the way this lathered up nicely. Would definitely repurchase for the price of 7€ (quite pricey, but I think it's worth it), but I think this was a limited edition, no?

And that's it! Stay tuned for the shampoo comparision post, if you're interested! :)

Cooking with Summer: Banana-Yogurt-Cinnamon-Honey Smoothie

Perfect when you need something fast, and all of the ingredients are listed right there in the title. Just throw them right in the blender and blend, blend, blend! Add everything to taste! I usually add one banana per person, other than that I just estimate everything. :)

Happy blending!

Book Review: Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake

Goodreads

Cas Lowood is a ghost hunter. He travels from city to city, killing the undead who are harming other people with his legacy, his father's athame. He lives only with his mother and their cat, Tybalt, since his father was killed while battling a ghost. Cas arrives in a new town with a new job. The ghost's name is Anna, and they call her Anna Dressed in Blood. She is a sixteen year old girl, who died on her way to a school dance, wearing a white dress, that was dripping with blood when she was found, her own blood, coming from her cut throat. As Cas tries to send her to the other side, he realizes she's the most powerful ghost he's ever fought. She kills any and everyone who steps into the house where she used to live. But for some reason, she spares Cas...

Lately, I seem to be liking gory reads, and scary ones, too. I've always loved the paranormal, so that's not very different for me. Anyway, I've wanted to read Anna since I first heard about it, enticed, of course, by the cover. It is just perfection, and Anna is just as I imagined her. I also like the special touch, which is the fact that the writing is in red ink - it kind of looks like blood!

I wasn't sure what to expect of this book, but after I read and saw a few reviews, my expectations were very high. Everyone who's read this book seemed to love it, and well, I am no different. Even though I didn't like it in the beginning, by the end I was so engrossed in the story I was turning page after page and not even noticing the time. I finish this novel in two days, which is really really fast for me!

I was a bit annoyed at first, because I'm really not used to a male narrator. I don't think I've read a book narrated by a male in FOREVER, if I ever even did! But I grew to like it, the author really managed it successfully - I think it was very convinincing. The characters themselves were great, I love how they struck up an unlikely friendship. Cas was very lovable, he grew on me pretty quickly. The others were written well too, though I do wish we had learned a bit more about Cas' mom. I personally would like to know more about her!

Now for the story. It's a ghost story, if you haven't figured that out (I'm being Captain Obvious, aren't I?). But it's a very very good ghost story. I loved the subtle hints of romance, the growing together, the friendship of the characters, and the narration itself. The story flowed, and I found myself barely able to tear myself away from the book as I was reading it. I also really liked all of the action bits and the gory stuff, too (what can I say, I'm a horror fan), so if you're into that kind of stuff, you might give this one a read. I don't want to say too much about the synopsis, but let's just say the story is awesome and has a twist or two in it, as well. I especially loved Anna's story, which was totally heartbreaking, though. :(

All in all, recommended for those who like gore and horror, as well as paranormal in general. It's not a very difficult book to read, so you should breeze right through. Definitely five roses for this cool paranomal ghost story, but it isn't one of my favourite books from now one. But each one of those roses is well-deserved. :)

Brand Spotlight: Balea

Today I'll be talking about one of my favourite drugstore brands that you can get in Slovenia, Balea. It is a brand of the local drugstore, DrogerieMarkt, and I know for sure that you can also get it in Austria and Germany, as well as several different European countries. If it isn't available where you live, I'm so sorry! :( But you could always do a swap or get it on one of your travels... But I will have many more Brand Spotlights coming with different brands that are more widely available.

I gathered a few of my favourites from this brand and today I want to talk to you about them. All in all, this brand is one of my favourites, not only because it is so inexpensive, but also because the products are genuinely good and really do what they say. Their specialty are definitely the amazing scents, which is one of the main resons I love this brand. I would strongly recommend them, especially the ones mentioned here today.

Balea Fig & Chocolate Shower Gel and Body Lotion - I got this shower gel a few months ago, and it is a limited edition, so I do hope it's still available for you to get. The lotion was given to me by lovely fellow blogger Ivana, and I am still so grateful for it. Why do I like it so much? It smells AH-mazing. At first I thought this combination sounded kind of gross, but it's actually great together. To me, it smells more like sour cherries than it does figs, but oh well. There is a certain tartness to the smell, mixed with the sweet scent of chocolate, that makes it the perfect sweet-and-sour combination. A scent that I love, and would even buy a perfume of, if it was available. Both of the products work great as well, they shower gel lathers up very nicely and the body lotion is quite creamy.

Balea Shea Butter & Argan Oil Hand Cream - Another great Balea product. What I love the most about the hand cream is the fact that it has a pump, which comes in really handy! That is actually the reason I bought this product, but I love it for more than just the convenience. It also smells really really wonderful, and it is the perfect amount of moisture for the hands. It's not greasy at all, but instead it absorbs quite quickly and leaves your hands smooth and soft. My mom also has this and loves it, and if I can judge from her nightstand, I know that this has quite a few limited edition. She had both the vanilla and the raspberry one (I'm SO upset I missed those two!) and currently they have another one in store, which is called something like Dark Glamour. And it smells very nice, but quite perfume-y, which I don't like that much, since I'm just staying at home.

Balea Lemongrass & Mint Foot Butter and Foot Deodorant - Okay, okay, I know this is kind of gross, but people, we NEED to talk about this. :D Feet are very important! Summer is coming and I do not want to see untended feet in sandals, so shape up (I should really take my own advice)! I love the smell of these two products again, because here it's quite important. When we're talking about feet, my friend, we need a refreshing scent. Which is exactly what this is. So it's perfect for refreshing your feet and shoes with the deodorant, and the foot butter (disgusting name, I know) is a really amazing product. The smell is so fresh, and the product is perfect for making your feet softer. It doesn't really sink in right away, because it is very rich... But I would still recommend it, because it definitely makes a difference.

Balea Shampoo for Every Day in Raspberry Scent - You guys, this smell is amazing. Yeah yeah, I know I've said this about every product so far, but this really is the best one! The fresh and tart, slightly sour, but still sweet raspberries are wonderful, and the shampoo is great as well. You can use it on an everyday basis and I find that it does a really great job of clarifying the hair. Too bad they don't have more products with this scent, like a shower gel and a conditioner... Maybe in the future, eh? (Trying to sound Canadian there, but I fail like the fool that I am.)

Balea Shower Gel Sweet Wonderland - Yeah, I know I've already mentioned this, but it NEEDS to be mentioned again. Because I think some of you didn't actually jump out of your chair and run out to buy it, and that is BLASPHEMOUS! Because you really do need it. Like yesterday. So again, chocolate pudding-y goodness and amazing creaminess AND bubbles! A must-buy, and it costs something like 1€! Get it OR ELSE! (I will post about this until everyone gets it!! Be afraid, be very afraid!)

Do you like this new series I just started with this post? I thought I could do one on Gliss Kur, Alverde, L'Oréal, Maybelline, MAC... It could be really interesting, so let me know if you'd like to see more. :) By the way, sorry for the long and rambly post! ^^''

Fashion Favourite: Sparkly Shoes!

I've never been a shoe person, to tell you the truth. As a child, I used to hate going shoe shopping with a passion! My mom would have to literally drag me into a store while I wailed and screamed. Today I'm a bit better at it, and I'm proud to say I haven't had a shoe shopping fit since I was about 12! :D But I still don't seek out shoes by myself, they just sort of find me. Though I do browse shoe stores, I'm never looking for something specific, I hate that. I prefer it when I spot things and they just jump out at me (not that I've ever had a shoe running after me yelling 'I CHOOSE YOU!' It's more like they sit there, I spot them, hug them tightly to my chest and whisper 'Let me love you!!' with tears in my eyes.) So this is what happened the last time I went into a shoe store: I saw sparkle. Silver sparkle. And lots of it. And the rest is history.

Except that I now have completely torn feet full of blisters. Literally, they hurt my feet SO much... The first time I wore them, I had them on for about ten minutes, I made three steps in them and my feet were bleeding. They still hurt, it seems like I just can't break these shoes in!

But will that stop me? Umm yeah, probably. Though I still love these loafers covered in silver sequins which I got for just 10€ in Deichmann (don't hate on that store people).

Book Review: Sweetly by Jackson Pearce

A re-telling of Hansel and Gretel, Sweetly starts of with a young girl disappearing from the woods while exploring with her twin sister and brother. Their story? A witch took her. It's more than ten years later, and the remaining siblings are thrown out of their home by their stepmother after both their parents die, leaving them with a car that breaks down close to the sleepy, almost deserted town of Live Oak. The siblings end up at a chocolatier, living with a beautiful young woman, Sophia, who charms them with her chocolates and her happy attidute. But Gretchen still fears the witch that took her sister...

This is the second novel in the author's Fairytale Retellings series. I loved this book from the beginning. I would recommend reading the first novel, Sisters Red first, though it isn't necessary. I just like how it all ties in together.

This is my second book from the author, and I can really see how her writing evolved. If Sisters Red was great, this was amazing. She weaves the story in such mysterious ways, you just cannot stop reading and keep turning page after page right to the end. It's amazing how a person can create a world using words, but everything on these pages came alive in front of me. The characters and the places are so vivid, they're just begging to take advantage of your imagination and manifest in it.

The beautiful writing, the amazing characters and the haunting, mysterious story, are many, but not all of the attributes of this beautiful book. It reminds me of the chocolate covered lemons that are mentioned in the book – so sweet and delicate to look at, but when you bite into them, a certain sourness comes through. Which is exactly what can be said with this novel, which mixes sweetness and goriness all within the same page.

I would recommend this to anyone really, especially readers who have liked this author in the past and people who like mysterious reads. I do have to say I was going to give this book 4 stars right up to the end, because I had a problem with it that I've had with Sisters Red before (I gave that one 4 stars, but I still loved it so much, it ended up as one of my favourites). The conclusion was just not what I was hoping it would be, there wasn't an element of surprise, it was all very expected. Which does take off a star for me, but does not take away from the greatness that is this book. HOWEVER! The book ended with an awesome twist that reminded me of biting into a chocolate covered almond – you get that unexpected crunch that makes it all the more special (notice all of my chocolate-y associations? Yeah, it's basically because I've been craving something sweet ever since reading this novel). All in all, an amazing, five-star read that you need to pick up ASAP. :)

A little favourites post

A little favourites post for you today. Not very many things, but all of them I'm just crazy about and have been using them on an everyday basis!

Garnier Ultra Doux Purifying Shampoo & Light Cream Conditioner with Soft Clay and Citron Extract - Lovely products! I'm new to this line of Garnier and was excited to hear that it does not contain silicones. Now please don't ask me why that's good, because I don't know FRICK about ingredients, but I've heard it's good to go silicone free. So there. The products smell lovely, really fresh and clean, and they literally leave my hair squeaky clean. If you don't like that feeling, I would steer clear of this shampoo if I were you!

YSL Touche Éclat Foundation - Got this from my lovely friend Isa, and I love it! It gives the skin a really fresh, but not too dewy finish (I have oily skin and it looks great, if I do say so myself!), the colour is a perfect match for me as well. The packaging is gorgeous as well - so luxurious! By the way, if you want a cheaper version, Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum is really, really similar. I myself will be buying the Bourjois foundation instead of this one, because it's just too darn expensive!

Balea Young Sweet Wonderland - Dear lord! Do you like chocolate pudding, my dear reader? Oh, you do? What a coincidence, oh wait, no it isn't, because who doesn't freaking love chocolate pudding. And if you do, GO BUY THIS NOW. It smells exactly like it, soooo yummy! The scent doesn't linger on the skin too long unfortunately, but I love it nonetheless. I literally can't wait to take a shower! Yummm.

Clinique Chubby Stick in Pudgy Peony - This is honestly my favourite lip product, ever. Ever. EVAAAAAAAH! I'm telling you, go out and get one of these now! They're amazing - give great payoff, don't rub off too fast, aren't sticky in the slightest, have just the right amount of shine... J'adore! This colour is a vibrant pink that I love for everyday, it gives a really nice awake look to the face. It's quite expensive, for me at least, but I don't even mind.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette - Another one of my (new) all-time favourites. I've had one eye palette before but this one is freaking amazing. I have really hooded eyes, so I can't experiment with eyeshadow too much, but I find that matte eyeshadows give really nice definition to my eyes. This palette is perfect! All but one shade are matte, and the shimmery one makes a great highlight for my browbone. I can do a review if you'd like (let me know).

Miss Dior Chérie Perfume - Ahh, maybe you remember this little guy from one of my first posts on this blog. This perfume has always been a favourite of mine, but it's really expensive, so I never got around to getting it. Then I got this mini in a present from my parents, and I only just started using it. LOVE!!!!1 I wanna bathe in this perfume, I wanna marry it... I mean um, yeah... It's uhmmm... Nice... I'm normal, I promise. By the way, this is the new version. It's very citrusy but still sweet, my favourite combination! Love the hint of jasmine too.

MAC Sakura Blush - Gorgeous blush from quite an old collection... Has been my firm favourite for a while, because it's the most unique out of all of my blushes. It mixes two colors: a bright and vibrant fuchsia and a calm lavender color, to make the most gorgeous combo everrrr. Too bad it's limited edition, I feel quite bad showing it to you, but if you have any CCO's around, look for it!

Well, that was a short and sweet favourites post. Maybe not very interesting, but all of these are things I genuinely like and will continue purchasing! Hope you enjoyed.
